Are you able to add solar battery storage to your existing solar panel and inverter?

There are several considerations when adding a battery storage solution to an existing solar panel installation.

Compatibility
In order to ensure maximum efficiency between panels, inverter, charge controller and battery, you may need to replace one or more components in order to store your solar generated energy.

Output
Depending on when you had your solar panels installed and their relative condition, you may not generate enough electricity to take full advantage of the storage capacity.

Usage
If you use more energy than your panels create, you’ll still need to rely on the grid to provide you with the additional electricity. Storage batteries work best when they’re used at times when the panels produce no energy.
